Timed Relay/SCR Controller

We offer both fixed and adjustable timed-relay/SCR controllers for home appliance applications that have an AC power source. These timed-relay/SCR controllers are ideal for low-cost, high-volume applications such as home appliances, healthcare products, and industrial control systems, among others.

These timed-relay/SCR controllers play an important role in creating more power-efficient systems in appliances like irons, electric kettles, heaters, toasters, and coffee machines. A built-in timer automatically shuts the device off after a set usage period to prevent continual power consumption when not in use. Timers enable robust power-safety controls that can turn off systems to prevent injury to users or damage to equipment.

Our timed-relay/SCR controllers are standard ASIC products with integrated application-specific functionality to minimize cost, reduce design complexity, and promote a speedy time-to-market. Products range from simple timers to multi-functional devices with a wide selection of advanced capabilities, depending upon the family. These features include:

  • Direct drive of relays and SCR to reduce component count and cost while increasing reliability
  • Support for 50/60Hz AC power input to enable universal designs
  • Wide choice of fixed or adjustable timing options to meet application-specific needs
  • Quick Test Mode (QTM) to shorten test time during production, which cuts manufacturing costs while improving reliability
  • Power On Reset capabilities to simplify device operation for increased reliability
  • One-button operation to simplify device operation by minimizing user confusion and error
  • Built-in RC oscillator to increase system integration
  • Efficient packaging to shrink system form-factor

We also provide a variety of application-specific reference circuits to accelerate application design. These proven solutions meet the Energy-related Products (ErP) European directive by operating at less than 0.5W power consumption when in standby mode. Also available are designs that support both 110V and 220V AC power source input. We have been a leader in the home appliance industry for more than a decade and have experienced design teams available to assist you with design, production, and certification.

Timed Relay/SCR Controller FAQs

Is there a replacement for an obsolete part?

Not all obsolete parts will have a direct replacement. However, we recommended that you contact your regional sales office.

What are the types of jitter?

There are several types of jitter, but the main ones are: cycle-to-cycle jitter, period jitter, half period jitter, and peak-to-peak jitter. Jitter terminology can be found in AB36: Jitter Measurement Techniques at Application Brief No. 36 or Application Note No. 27.

What is the lead finish for Pericom products? What about lead-free?

All Pericom's products that are not lead-free are composed of 85% Sn and 15% Pb. For lead-free products, they are composed of 100% matte Sn. Lead-free products are marked and ordered with the letter "E" suffix at the end of the part number.

Where can I find Mean Time Before Failure (MTBF) or Failures In Time (FIT) values for Pericom products?

FIT and MTBF data can be found at Pericom's Quality webpage.

Where can I find the information on your Pb-free and "Green" packaging?

Lead (Pb)-Free and Green information can be found on individual datasheets or Pb-Free & Green Page.
