Facilities Electrical Technician (Facilities Group) - Greenock, UK

Diodes' wafer fabrication facility in Greenock, Scotland (UK) has ~300 employees and produces wafers to support analog ICs and discrete components. These products are used in a wide variety of different markets, including automotive, industrial, consumer, communications, and computing.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

This position is for an Electrical, Shift Facilities Technician within the Facilities Department at Diodes. This position assists with the safe and efficient day to day operation of the Facilities Group infrastructure for the manufacturing plant.

Reporting to the Facilities Operations and Maintenance Manager you will be responsible for carrying out repairs, maintenance, monitoring and manipulation of plant systems and equipment.

On a 12 hour rotational shift basis your main function will be to ensure uninterrupted supply of Facilities services to the manufacturing plant. In this role you will be required to work a 42 hour week on a rotating shift basis.

In all cases, full training will be provided to the right person to enhance their skills and become competent to work as part of the Facilities Technician shift team.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Completion of a recognized electrical apprenticeship
  • Experience working as part of a team in an engineering environment (e.g. installation, maintenance, repair)
  • Demonstrate an understanding of safety systems and experience of permit-to-work systems (training on site specific safe systems will be provided)
  • Role is multi-skilled and candidate must be willing to participate in electrical and mechanical tasks
  • Familiar with procedures and practices related to working within industrial plant rooms
  • Demonstrate good problem-solving methodology to identify, correct and prevent system/equipment faults
  • Ability to work as part of a team and actively participate in cross-functional team activities
  • Skills/Knowledge that are advantageous but not essential (training will be provided):
    • Working knowledge of Electrical LV systems – From distribution to outlet points, HV experience advantageous (HV Switching, AP status held, HV entry course)
    • Heating, ventilation systems; refrigeration; steam/hot water generation and distribution; pumped water systems

 

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Recognized, approved electrical or multi-skilled (heavy electrical bias preferred) apprenticeship
  • ONC/HNC or an equivalent qualification in an electrical discipline combined with experience in electrical maintenance
  • IEE Wiring Regulations 18th Edition BS7671
  • Inspection and Testing BS 2391 or BS 2395-0
  • Preferred but not essential (as training will be provided): HV Switching certified
  • Controls experience - Building Management Systems (BMS)
