Diodes Incorporated

Industry-First 1800W Auto-Compliant Transient Voltage Suppressor Launched by Diodes Incorporated at Embedded World 2017

Diodes Incorporated (Nasdaq: DIOD), a leading global manufacturer and supplier of high-quality application specific standard products within the broad discrete, logic, analog and mixed-signal semiconductor markets, today introduced the D28V0H1U2P5Q at Embedded World 2017. Billed as the industry’s first unidirectional 1800W automotive-compliant transient voltage suppressor (TVS), this device is designed to protect sensitive electronic circuits from transients generated by inductive switching and targets a wide range of automotive applications, including pumps, HVAC (heating, ventilation & air-conditioning), infotainment, navigation, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Packaged in the thermally efficient PowerDI®5, the D28V0H1U2P5Q features a reverse stand-off voltage of 28V and low reverse leakage while being able to dissipate up to 1800W of power per 10/1000µs transient, which is 20% higher than comparable solutions.

Diodes’ new TVS is uniquely capable of handling peak pulse currents up to 40A, 25% higher than similar SMC packaged parts. The D28V0H1U2P5Q is tested to guarantee compliance with the automotive load dump standard ISO7637-2 (pulses 1, 2a, 2b, 3) and the transient surge requirements of IEC 61000-4-5. The device is also compliant with the EMC requirements of IEC 61000-4-4 and the electro static discharge requirements (ESD) of IEC 61000-4-2.

The D28V0H1U2P5Q occupies a PCB area that is 40% smaller than that of a comparable TVS packaged in the industry-standard SMC package. Furthermore, it has a profile above the board that is 50% lower than that of SMC-packaged solutions.

Diodes is exhibiting in Booth 431 in Hall 3A at Embedded World 2017 in Nuremberg, Germany, March 14-16, and welcomes visitors to come and find out more about its exciting new products. Further information will also be available at www.diodes.com.
