Process Engineer (Process Engineering Group) - Greenock, UK

Diodes' wafer fabrication facility in Greenock, Scotland (UK) has ~300 employees and produces wafers to support analog ICs and discrete components. These products are used in a wide variety of different markets, including automotive, industrial, consumer, communications, and computing.

 

Nature of Job

As a Process Engineer you will join the team responsible for the silicon wafer fabrication processes. You will work with tools and techniques involved in the manufacture of our growing family of semiconductor products for our worldwide markets.

Develop, implement, sustain and improve the semiconductor processes. Identify and implement new processes and metrology tools, working closely with our process and product development teams to ensure the continued growth and success of our product portfolio.

A successful candidate will work with colleagues from different departments, including IT and Equipment Maintenance, collaborating to improve the manufacturing process flows and achieve factory goals.

 

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain and support wafer fabrication processes, focusing on process capability, quality and yield
  • Develop and execute auditable instructions and procedures that enable manufacturing performance to target, process control, measurement, repeatability and ensure health & safety procedural compliance
  • Improve process, procedure or operator function through robust SPC, DOE, 8D, 6 Sigma or other structured techniques to show benefits in product efficiency and quality
  • Support the implementation of new processes and manufacturing techniques, ensuring process performance aligns with both design for manufacturability and output expectations
  • The transfer and production implementation of new processes from development to production status as robust, capable, stable and high yielding processes
  • Support all manufacturing activities and ensure that all quality, customer and safety requirements are exceeded
  • Report against targets and goals to highlight issues and/or improvement opportunities
  • Leading or participating in cross-functional and facility quality teams and work within group activities with a view to optimize efficiency and effectiveness
  • Be party to influencing attitudes and behaviours to ensure Process Engineering achieves the required standards
  • Participate in cross-functional teams on continuous improvement projects

 

Qualifications/Experience:

The successful candidate will have a BSc Degree (First or 2:1) or higher in physics/applied physics, chemistry/chemical engineering, clectrical & electronic engineering, or equivalent experience.

Currently, we have roles available for experienced professionals in all disciplines of process engineering.

In addition to this, we are specifically looking for expertise/experience in sub micron lithography, Dry etch, backend interconnect and chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) to work closely with our integration team on new process development.
