Facilities Mechanical Engineer - Oldham, UK

This role is a full-time position to be a lead mechanical engineer for the facilities department in Oldham, United Kingdom. 

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Management of Key facilities assets
  • Day-to-day management of minor projects and improvement works on a live operational Semiconductor manufacturing site
  • Day-to-day management of contractor activities and associated works
  • When required to coordinate, supervise and deliver facilities projects and improvements from inception through to completion with focus on time, cost, quality, sustainability and energy efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation  
  • Upgrading facilities infrastructure to improve site resilience using most cost effective, energy efficient means.
  • Monitor the site's PM activities to ensure they are optimized to produce the best reliability from the equipment; drive delivery of condition monitoring where appropriate and implement best practice techniques across site working closely with the Maintenance teams
  • Assist with facilities compliance and statutory reporting

Essential Qualifications:
  • Minimum of Higher National Diploma (HND) in electrical engineering, mechanical, or building services engineering
  • Preferred, Higher National Certificate (HNC) level or degree in an engineering discipline
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Technical knowledge and experience in mechanical engineering systems for cleanrooms
  • Experience in the HVAC engineering industry – (with mechanical equipment such as pumps, boilers, chillers, HVAC units and compressors)
  • Experience with software programs such as AutoCAD and MS Office
  • Solid understanding of cleanroom technology, M&E building services and new techniques
  • Strong background in management of external contractors and compliance
  • Strong project planning, coordination and integration skills with the ability to deliver on time and within budget, handling multiple projects at any given time.
  • Good Knowledge of H&S compliance / risk assessment
  • Good understanding of electrical systems, and safe systems of work
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude to work
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization
  • Willingness and ability to be hands on when needed
  • High level of problem solving skills
