Customer Quality Engineer - Plano, TX

Diodes Incorporated (Diodes) is seeking a Customer Quality Engineer to serve as customers' advocate, and quality and reliability champion for strategic Diodes customer accounts in North America and Asia.

 

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Acts as quality representative to external customers, responsible for continually improving the customer's valuation of the quality experienced with any Diodes process, product, or service beginning with new product development through product end-of-life. 
  • Provides technical liaison between customers, Diodes’ failure analysis labs, factories and suppliers as well as frequent technical support of sales and marketing. 
  • Frequently interacts with customers and Diodes functional managers and engineers in product development, design, marketing, sales, planning, manufacturing, testing, etc. These interactions often are with regard to potential, real or perceived customer quality or reliability concerns arising from technical, administrative or logistical events.
  • Coordinates root cause identification, corrective actions and preventive actions of product quality issues resulting from manufacturing processes (Wafer Fab and Assembly/Test Sites) or Diodes business processes. Prepares failure analysis (8D) reports and tracks customer return status.
  • Analyzes, consolidates and reports Maverick Product Elimination (MPE) and Ongoing Reliability Testing (ORT) data from internal and external manufacturing sites.
  • Prepares and drives execution of customer audits and site visits. 
  • Supports new product development activities and interfaces with internal and external wafer fabrication and assembly/test sites, engineering, business units and sales to provide technical support for process and product qualifications, and reliability assessments of Diodes’ products. 
  • Generates qualification plans that are aligned with Diodes’ internal requirements while meeting any applicable customer specific reliability expectations and applying qualification by similarity (QBS) methodologies. Tracks progress of qualification status, reviews reliability test results, determines disposition of non-compliant products, reviews and releases qualification reports for Diodes’ internal factories as well as foundries and subcontractor assembly/test sites. 
  • Provides packaging expertise by addressing package related quality and reliability issues at customers’ or Diodes’ assembly sites.
  • Dispositions non-conforming material as part of material review boards (MRB). 
  • Responsible for driving compliance with and alignment of both, Diodes and customer quality requirements and commitments for products, processes and services delivered by Diodes.
  • Performs customer specification reviews and consolidates inputs from various other functions. 
  • Facilitates process and product change management. Leads change review board (CRB) team meetings, aligns change implementation schedules across regional business units and global factories in order to minimize the impact of product change notifications (PCN) to customers. Generates PCNs and tracks customer approval status to allow smooth transitions within targeted schedules.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Requires a BS/MS degree in Electrical Engineering with 5-10 years of related experience in the areas of semiconductor manufacturing, product engineering, packaging, quality engineering.
  • Must be well-organized, self-directed, a self-starter, highly motivated, proactive problem solver with the ability to get results without owning resources and possessing direct authority.
  • Experience in semiconductor qualification processes, reliability procedures, product packaging.
  • Familiarity with JEDEC and AEC-Qxxx, ISO 9001, IATF 16949 standards. 
  • Hands-on audit experience is a plus.
  • Proficient with problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa, etc.
  • Experience in Test and Process SPC, Maverick Product Elimination (MPE), including PAT, SBL, SYL.
  • Should have excellent working knowledge of common software tools such as Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong English communication skills – written and verbal – are required as well as an ability to work comfortably across organizational boundaries to drive change and influence actions without direct authority. Mandarin speaker would be a plus.
  • Ability to travel internationally.
