Quality Engineer, Lee's Summit, MO
Diodes FabTech Inc., started operations when the facilities were purchased from AT&T Microelectronics on Dec 21, 1995. Operations commenced on February 14, 1996. Diodes FabTech Inc. currently employs approximately 200 people (August 2011) and occupies approximately 70,000 sq. ft. (1/20th) of the "Summit Technologies Center". The building is 1.3-million sq. ft., the size of 21 soccer fields. Diodes FabTech is currently the largest manufacturing facility in Lee's Summit, MO.
Diodes FabTech Inc. has two distinct business areas:
- EPI - We apply thin epitaxial layers (3 microns to 200 microns) of single crystal silicon to silicon wafers for various customers and internal consumption.
- Wafer Fabrication - Process wafers and provide the following products: Diodes/Rectifiers, Transistors, and Protection Devices
We are currently seeking a Quality Engineer, reporting to the Quality Manager in our Lee's Summit location.
General Summary of Purpose
Provide support to the Diodes FabTech manufacturing processes to ensure effective process and reliability control. Identify, develop, and implement methods for quality improvement and improved process control methods for Diodes FabTech. Assure that products and processes comply or exceed customer requirements. Responsible to follow up on corrective actions derived from customer feedback and findings in quality system audits.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Identify areas for improvement throughout the factory and lead quality improvement activities with other team members from Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Equipment Engineering, and others to resolve quality and process control weaknesses.
- Lead problem-solving teams using systematic techniques such as 8D, 5-Why, and Fault Tree Analysis to respond to internally and externally reported quality problems.
- Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective and preventive action plans associated with manufacturing process monitoring.
- Plan, review, and implement statistical process control methods, process monitoring, inspection procedures, auditing, and training programs.
- Responsible for development of raw material suppliers to meet Diodes FabTech material and quality system requirements.
- Communicate with product reliability testing resources to ensure timely completion of testing and analysis of test results.
- Work situation may on occasion require other than standard working hours for resolution of problems.
- Quality representative on the product release teams.
- Lead departmental resources pertaining to process control, process improvement, internal auditing and training.
- Communicate document control and training requirements to engineering and production personnel.
- Implement solutions to problems that may be assigned by the Quality Manager as a result of a customer issue, yield issue, or other quality issue.
Other Qualifications and Requirements
- Ability to listen to operator, engineers, and supervisors to determine causes to problems, and aggressively follow up with solutions.
- Must be detail-oriented and thorough with excellent report-writing, communication, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of development and delivery of SPC training courses.
- Quality process auditing experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in engineering, physics, or related field from a four-year college or university.
- Minimum three years of experience as a Quality Engineer working in a semiconductor fab.
- Experience with systematic problem-solving methodologies (8D, 5-Why, etc.) and analytical methods required.
- Knowledge of statistical process control and statistical quality control preferred.
- Has an understanding of quality systems developed based on ISO/TS16949 or ISO9000 quality standards.
- Good knowledge of Windows, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access software.
